Texas Schools Observing LGBTQ “Day of Silence” Today
Leading Moms group calls out school leaders for "isolating" children and disregarding the will of parents
April 14, 2023 – In response to reports that some school districts in Texas are participating in the Day of Silence today, moms are speaking out against the use of public school classrooms to promote an activist agenda that has nothing to do with educational standards.
Moms For America has been made aware that some middle school teachers in Round Rock Independent School District are being required to show students a video promoting the “Day of Silence” organized by LGBTQ activists, and that a letter was sent to families encouraging children to stay silent and communicate only via whiteboard for the day as a display of “allyship” with LGBTQ peers.
“The classroom is a place for learning, not activism – especially activism that isolates students,” said Perla Muñoz Hopkins, Texas State Director for Moms For America. “Moms across Texas are concerned about what our kids are being exposed to. This is what we know about, but what else is going on that we don’t know about?”
Moms For America is actively recruiting and training candidates across the country to run for election to school boards so they can represent the interests of parents and make sure that public school resources are used to educate students, not indoctrinate them.
“This is an example of why we will continue our nationwide movement to turn over school board seats,” said Kimberly Fletcher, founder, president, and CEO of Moms For America. “We will protect the rights of parents and students who do not want school to promote race and gender-based ideology that has nothing to do with educational standards.”
