Moms Say New IL Law Forces Porn on Kids
Moms For America: “This law is not about free speech or intellectual diversity; this is about pushing a radical political agenda on our children”
June 13, 2023 – Moms For America, a nationwide network of hundreds of thousands of moms, reacted today to a new law in Illinois that will withhold grant money from any library that removes books that are currently on the shelf.
Kimberly Fletcher, the founder, president, and CEO of Moms For America, issued the following statement:
“This law is not about free speech or intellectual diversity; this is about pushing a radical political agenda on our children and forcing them to be exposed to content that the FCC would not even allow on television. This includes books such as ‘Gender Queer’ that feature explicit and graphic sexual content.
“Texas, meanwhile, is going in the opposite direction by passing a common-sense law stating that if you can’t show it on TV and you can’t air it on the radio, you can’t have it in the classroom.
“We support exposing children to a range of ideas and viewpoints, but the content that our kids encounter at public and school libraries should be age-appropriate. Illinois’ new law is designed to make it impossible for parents to protect their children from violent, pornographic, and otherwise inappropriate content.”
