Parental rights group offers guidance to concerned moms and public officials
Branson, MO – In response to ongoing concerns from moms all over the country, Moms for America today issued the following statement opposing the inclusion of pornographic and obscene materials in school libraries:
“As mothers, our role is to both protect and nurture our children. Providing children with inappropriate materials in elementary school libraries is contrary to both of those goals. Libraries are meant to be places of learning and exploration, and the inclusion of explicit, obscene, and pornographic materials undermines this purpose. Moreover, allowing content that exposes children to the transgender movement’s propaganda cannot be tolerated.
“Elected representatives serving on school boards and public servants working in public school administration have a duty to ensure that the materials available to our students is wholesome and age-appropriate, but they must also be ever-mindful to avoid crossing the line from curation into censorship. Moms can and should play an important role in helping them to maintain that balance and ensure that our tax dollars are not being used to propagate inappropriate and potentially harmful content.
“We encourage all moms to be vigilant about monitoring their children’s reading choices, and we proudly offer resources and guidance to help families navigate the complex issues of censorship and age-appropriate content.”
